BERLIN THEATRE

Berlin Theatres - Berlin has numerous theatres and shows take place every night of the week, to suit all tastes. Most shows will be in German, although there is an English Theatre. Berlin has a rich theatrical history. Today theatres offer dynamic and plays from traditional performances to modern plays. The Volksbühne or “People's Stage” offers experimental alternative theatre. Berlin has seven major symphony orchestras and two major concert halls, along with many smaller venues and churches. It is one of the world's greatest cities for classical music.

A theatre and troupe founded by Bertold Brecht in the 1950s. Offers stagings of contemporary and classical plays, including Shakespeare, where underlying themes of social and class conflict are emphasized.

Konzerthaus Berlin

Here you’ll find the stunning Konzerthaus previously the Schauspielhaus designed by Schinkel around 1820, destroyed during the war and restored and reopened in 1984 with three halls. Orchestras like the Berliner Sinfonie Orchester regularly have performances here.

Many of the major Opera and Ballet performances are here. Berlin is famous for its classical music tradition and stages many of the most popular traditional operas as well as more avante garde productions during the season. Tickets cost from €60 to €10 but can go as high as €120 for the best seats for particularly notable premieres and events. The box office is at the Opera House and is open from Monday to Friday from 11 am to about 7 pm and from 2 pm on Saturday and Sundays. Also the box office sells tickets for the evening performance one hour before each performance
